Mark Thompson

Mark Thompson graduated from George Fox College in 1976. Since then, he has been involved in Christian camping, established and directed a church daycare, served as a Christian Education and Camping Director within the five-state region of Rocky Mountain Yearly Meeting, and planted a church in Mesa, Arizona, for Southwest Yearly Meeting of Friends.

After taking classes at Fuller Theological Seminary, Western Evangelical Seminary, and Azusa Pacific University, Mark was recorded as a Friends pastor by Southwest Yearly Meeting in 1989. Over the past 45 years, Mark has served in ministry across three Yearly Meetings. He has been grateful to be part of the South Salem Friends Church family since October 2026.

PASTOR

Mark and Jan (Field) Thompson have been married for 49 years. Jan has truly been a helpmate in ministry and jokingly says her role on the "Pastor's Committee" is to pick up the pieces and keep Mark on track. She graduated from George Fox University in 2006 with degrees in Graphic Design, Christian Education, and Music. Together, Mark and Jan have two children, one daughter-in-law, and five grandchildren.
